A bit about Miniature Horses.

The designation of a miniature horse is determined by the height. Section A, miniature horses stand 34" and below at the withers (the high part of the back, located between the shoulder blades). Section B, miniature horses stand 34" – 38" high at the withers. Lassie is a section B and is in foal to a Section B stallion.

While its common for people to refer to minis as "ponies" or "shetlands" , they are not.... and are a breed of their own. Miniature horses are exactly that, Miniature versions of their larger cousins. They don't have the stubborness or body type of a pony. Miniature horses do grow a thick shaggy coat during winter, which is clipped for the show ring.

Waiting, waiting.........

Well the 16th has come and gone and still no foal :( . The day also was my daughters 3rd angel birthday. It has been raining here on and off with a tropical cyclone up north..... im hoping it doesnt rain too much so as to avoid flooding so close to when she is due. So fingers crossed it happens in the next day or so.

Well we are down to 8 sleeps till our first little foal is due.... Im so excited and can't wait. There is no sign of an arrival any day soon, but I still love to keep check on her and give her those extra special little rubs and treats that every mum-to-be deserves. I can't help but compare my own pregnancies with her and am really feeling for her haha. Its been overcast and rainy the last two days so it has been that bit cooler, which im sure must be more comfortable for her.
